I have always had an affinity for la vie française. There is just something fairytale-like about the accordion music, beautiful pastries, romantic language, and emphasis on life. My high school best friend and I used to dream about living in Paris together and opening a bakery filled with petits fours and profiteroles.
While I only lived in Paris, France for a few wonderful months after university and ate rather than baked several hundred pain aux raisins and crepes à la banane, I have called the other Paris, or Montreal, home for the last several years. One of my favorite things about living here is the food and the adorable French terminology.
My morning routine at the moment consists of brewing this fragrant coffee (roasted across the street at the Brûlerie St-Denis) in my French press (by far the best way to make coffee) and nibbling the banana muffins I made earlier this week.
