My Atelier

Primary top, Lucky Brand jeans, Banana Republic necklace, Stuart Weitzman pumps, Yoana Baraschi blazer

In my family, sewing is a hereditary trait.  My grandmother, mother, and sister are all wonderful seamstresses and I feel so lucky to have grown up around such talented (and multi-faceted!) women.  This past Christmas I received my first dress form as a gift and it's been one of the most useful accoutrements my sewing collection could have received.  (As any sewer knows, hemming or tailoring without one is a gigantic pain in the ass!)

Now that I'm more settled in our new apartment, I'm finally putting the dress form to use by finishing an old sewing project and looking forward to starting on a new list of projects for the summer (like recreating this hot chili dress for a fraction of the price).

With a season so full of color, long flowing skirts, maxi dresses, and wonderful draping, the ability to sew my own designs is going to be my wallet's best friend.
